Beach Area
The outskirts of Rome in the Lazio region boasts family friendly and characteristic beach towns with breathtaking details along the beautiful Tyrrhenian coast. You can retreat to the seaside to escape the heat of the city, swim and soak up in the sun. The closest and one of the most popular beaches is Ostia, the ancient port city of Rome, at only 25km from the city located near Fiumicino airport. South of Rome you can find Sabaudia and San Felice Circeo, famous for their white sand dunes and crystal clear waters. Some 60km north of Rome lies a beach in a town of Etruscan origins called Santa Marinella as well as Santa Severa where you can take in some sun on one of its more remote beaches whilst admiring the historical beauty of an 11th century castle.
